Graphic Design + Social Media Student Assistant for Engineering Career Development & Corporate Relations

The Engineering Career Development & Corporate Relations (CDCR) Office is seeking a Graphic Design + Social Media Student Assistant beginning January 2023! This assistant will function as one of two CDCR student graphic designers who maintain communication and support from the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering Office of Communications and Marketing. 

The mission of the CDCR is to equip and empower engineering students to discover, develop, and launch professional experiences and purposeful careers. We do so by:

  • Providing customized, student-centered career coaching
  • Curating career education resources
  • Promoting work-based learning experiences
  • Cultivating industry-focused partnerships

The CDCR staff is composed of staff teams that focus on career coaching and programs, career development content and strategy, co-op and internships, and employer relations. The Graphic Design + Social Media Student Assistant will assist all teams to develop appealing visuals for multiple approaches to marketing that promote career programs (such as workshops on Networking, Interview Prep, Career Fair Prep, or employer events such as Coffee Chats, Info Sessions, and Career Fairs). In doing so, the Graphic Design + Social Media Assistant will also provide support to maintaining a social media calendar with engaging content on topics such as upcoming programs, career-relevant inspiring messages, stories about current engineering students or alumni, and more.

Duties

  • Design aesthetically pleasing and visually compelling images and icons to support the marketing needs of the CDCR
  • Size images and icons for use across multiple mediums including: Instagram, Handshake, Powerpoint, InDesign; for print and electronic viewing
  • Create a library of resources and templates for staff to use for marketing purposes
  • Proactively seek and create social media content relevant to the CDCR mission and goals
  • Coordinate and schedule social media posts
  • Track social media user analytics and summarize data for CDCR staff
  • Adjust social media scheduling and practices based on user analytics and adjust practices accordingly
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite -- Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat
  • Knowledge of social media platforms for non-personal use
  • Dependable self-starter who is comfortable taking initiative, working independently, and in collaboration
  • Responsive to fast-paced, quick turnaround environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
  • Keen eye for creative design and ability to create visually appealing documents that maintain brand identity
  • Proactive and service-oriented nature
  • Interest and willingness to learn about function and operations of career services office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with branding standards and digital communications strategy, including social media
  • Experience using the AU job search platform - Handshake
  • Experience using Microsoft Powerpoint

Work Hours + Pay Rate

  • Number of hours per week: 10 - 20
  • Weekly work schedule: Between 8am - 4:45 PM
  • Hourly pay rate: $9.00 - $12.00 / hour
