Career Education Content Graduate Assistant for Engineering Career Development & Corporate Relations

The Engineering Career Development & Corporate Relations (CDCR) Office is seeking a Career Education Content Graduate Assistant beginning August 2023.

The mission of the CDCR is to equip and empower engineering students to discover, develop, and launch professional experiences and purposeful careers. We do so by:

  • Providing customized, student-centered career coaching
  • Curating career education resources
  • Promoting work-based learning experiences
  • Cultivating industry-focused partnerships

The CDCR staff is composed of staff teams that focus on career coaching and programs, career development content and strategy, co-op and internships, and employer relations. The Career Education Content Assistant will assist all teams to prepare and distribute messaging for engineering audiences using the communication platforms most appropriate to reach the target audience. This role will be responsible for contributing to the development and maintenance of a communications calendar with engaging content on topics such as upcoming engineering career programs, career coaching tips and tricks, stories about current engineering students or alumni, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute newsletter messaging to engineering students using identified electronic communication platforms (e.g. Handshake, Symplicity, SalesForce, MarketingCloud, listservs, and Outlook mail merge)
  • Participate in content planned based on audience segmentations
  • Create and maintain content delivery calendars for scheduled messaging
  • Provide assistance to the CDCR team to market programs and events through messaging platforms, building monitors, printed materials, and other identified mediums
  • Prepare and deliver event reminder messages and calendar invites
  • Contribute to the development, editing, updates, and publication of CDCR annual report and student or employer resources (i.e. Field Guide to Engineering Careers, First Destination Outcome posters, industry guides).
  • Serve as a possible contributor or point of contact for stories published by Engineering Communication & Marketing office
  • Provide assistance in reviewing and editing / updating CDCR website for new and existing content
  • Track and maintain records of website traffic and messaging platform analytics
  • Participate in any assigned training and staff meetings
  • Other duties as determined by supervisor

Required Qualifications
Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree and be enrolled as a full-time student in a graduate level program in communication studies, marketing, another related field, and/or demonstrate one year or more of related experience.

  • Willingness to learn / comfort using necessary software programs and applications (i.e. Handshake, Symplicity, Cascade web platform, SalesFore, MarketingCloud)
  • Organizational and coordination skills
  • Team-oriented and strong interpersonal skills
  • Dependable self-starter who is comfortable taking initiative, working independently, and in collaboration
  • Interest and willingness to learn about function and operation of career services office

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite -- particularly Illustrator and InDesign
  • Basic Knowledge of social media platforms for non-personal use

Work Hours + Pay Rate

  • Number of hours per week: 20
  • Weekly work schedule: Between 8 AM - 4:45 PM
  • Stipend rate by hour: $16 - $18 / hour provided as a monthly stipend
  • Tuition waiver included upon approval from student's academic college
