What you need to know about the Fall 2023 Engineering Career Fairs

August 14, 2023

Career Fairs are a great way to network with company recruiters and discover internship, co-op, or full-time opportunities. Participating in career fairs and scheduling on-campus interviews is a great way to secure an exciting job opportunity. There are two ways to schedule interviews with employers. One is to attend a career fair and be offered a timeslot, and the other is to schedule ahead of time using Handshake.”

Watch our featured video for details on scheduling in Handshake. We recommend early sign up. Companies and recruiters have been sharing their job postings this summer and are ready to receive your applications beginning August 16! Schedule interviews with your favorite companies. If you missed one…no worries! You can add your name to open slots on schedules while networking with recruiters. During the fair, recruiters will offer you an interview and give you a card with your agreed upon time slot. Take your cards to the Interview Help Desk to be added to interview schedules for the next day. That’s it! Good Luck!

The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering will host three career fairs, two industry days, and several interview days for the Fall 2023 semester. In order to prepare for your experience and make the most of the career fairs, make sure to check out the Career Fair+ platform!

CAREER FAIR INTERVIEW SCHEDULING

Did you know that you can pre-schedule co-op, internship or full-time position interviews with recruiting employers participating in this semester's career fairs?

Fall 2023 Career Fair Interviews Scheduling Timeframe:

  • August 16- September 10 | September 13 + 14 Interview Days
  • August 16- September 24 | September 28 Interview Day
    • These interviews are Pre-Select: students must apply to roles by September 24, and employers will then send invitiations to schedule interviews with students
  • August 16- October 1 | October 4, 5 + 6 Interview Days

Steps to Schedule Interviews:

  1. Visit Handshake ( www.handshake.auburn.edu) and log in to your account
  2. Update your Profile, including major (remove pre-), classification, and make GPA visible to employers
  3. Upload your reviewed resume to My Documents, re-naming it to include FirstNameLastName-Fall23, and make visible to employers.
  4. Visit www.aub.ie/careerfairinterviews to access a list of jobs and interviews related to career fairs. Utilize filters to narrow down your search and fit your preferences.
  5. As you review positions and preferences, if you meet all qualifications, you can click "apply"
  6. Upload the resume you saved earlier, and hit Submit
  7. For employers who have an open interview schedule, a schedule of available time slots to schedule interviews will appear.
  8. Select a time slot for the time that works best for you. Make sure to write down all scheduled interviews to ensure that you do not double-book yourself. Your interview schedule will be emailed to you prior to each Career Fair Interview Day.

*If you are not redirected to an interview schedule, this means the employer does not have an open interview schedule for the candidate to schedule. The employer will review submitted resumes and follow up to schedule an interview, if interested.

BEFORE + DURING THE FAIR

  1. When viewing your favorite employers on Career Fair+, you can share your resume prior to the fair! When accessing a company's page in CF+, hit the "Drop Resume" button. In doing so, the resume on your CF+ profile will be shared with the company you selected.

If you do not have your current resume uploaded as your drop the resume, you will be able to add it to your profile prior to the fair. This helps you get your resume in front of employers multiple times and if for any reason you are not able to drop by their table at the fair - they still know you are interested!
  2. Print hard copies of your resume to provide when meeting employers face-to-face. Interested in 10 FREE printed resumes? Meet with an Engineering Career Coach for a resume review and submit your revised resume here.
  3. Check in upon arrival to the fair! We'll provide you a name tag and a place to check your bag. Use the CF+ app to view the interactive fair map and see where you can find companies throughout the space.
  • Bring a pen + paper, ~10-20 copies of your resume, and a folder or portfolio so you can easily make notes after your conversations.
  • Check out the interactive fair map on Career Fair+ to see where company tables are located. Make a game plan for the order in which you plan to approach companies.
  • Consider approaching all types of companies even if you don't recognize the brand!
  • Thank recruiters for attending the career fair, discuss any next steps, and request their contact information so you can follow up!
