- Meet with an Engineering Career Coach to discuss majors of interest and begin career planning
- Sign up for Handshake, Auburn's job search platform! Enter your career interests and create your profile.
TIP I Sign up for a professional headshot photo, offered each semester in the CDCR! - Begin creating a professional resume. Get started by attending a Nuts + Bolts of Engineering Resumes workshop.
- Explore student organizations associated with your major and career interests through AU Involve. Join at least one service, interest, or leadership organization. Consider the 50+ engineering student organizations and join E-Teams, small groups based in cross-disciplinary industry and subject area interests.
- Explore internship opportunities on Handshake or by speaking with an Engineering Career Coach. Learn about the Co-op Program at a Co-op Interest Meeting.
- Begin to identify professionals and fields of interest you are curious about! Conduct an informational interview or request a job shadow experience. TIP | Check out the Auburn Connects mentoring programs to find professionals.
- Research specific careers and qualifications using career resources provided by CDCR. Identify industries and professionals to conduct informational interviews and job shadowing.

- Meet with an Engineering Career Coach to develop an engineering resume, learn about best practices for creating your professional brand and LinkedIn presence, and begin to strategize for your internship search.
- Update your resume with experiences from your first year at Auburn, gradually removing high school experiences over time.
- Attend the Personal Marketing + Professional Networking workshop.
- Consider exploring undergraduate research opportunities through Engineering Undergraduate Research and University Undergraduate Research.
- Attend an Engineering Career Fair and Engineering employer events. Attend the Career Fair Prep and Interview Prep workshops to prepare!
- Engage in projects, competitions, or leadership roles within professional and student organizations.
- Complete job shadowing, internships , or co-op opportunities.
- Continue to update LinkedIn and Handshake accounts. Attend the Engineering Career Fair.
- Considering graduate school? Contact faculty members to discuss your interests and attend the Graduate School Prep workshop.
- Develop strategies for your full-time job search or graduate school search and meet with an Engineering Career Coach to further discuss interests and effective strategies for the search.
- Participate in Fall Mock Interviews with Engineering Young Alumni.
- Meet with an Engineering Career Coach early in the fall semester to refine your customized resume, gear up for your job search, and continue practicing and refining interview skills.
- Update LinkedIn and Handshake accounts to reflect the most up-to-date and consistent information regarding your experiences, accomplishments, and skill development.
- Attend the Engineering Career Fair and participate in on-campus interviews.
- Attend the Job Offer + Salary Negotiation workshop.
- Begin making plans to transition from college to career.
- Contact professionals at your future workplace to learn about the area and company culture.
- Research the cost of living in the location of your future workplace and create an estimated budget.
- Begin to explore topics important for your adulthood life such as retirement savings, renters insurance, and student loan payments.
- Consider ways you want to serve your future community or give back to Auburn with your time and talents.
