The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering's Inclusion and Diversity Committee is launching a design competition to complement its Engineer Together initiative in an effort to increase awareness of inclusion and diversity initiatives within the college. Open to current students, the competition seeks entries that visually depict what Engineer Together means.
“Our goal with this design competition was to tap into the creativity of our students and offer a unique outlet to highlight the value of engineering together on campus and out in the real world,” said Jeff Fergus, associate dean for undergraduate studies and program assessment who oversees the college-wide Inclusion and Diversity Committee.
Entry into the design contest is open to all engineering students. Students outside of the College of Engineering may enter the contest if paired with an engineering student. Engineering student organizations are also eligible to submit a design on behalf of the organization. Up to three designs per individual applicant or organization will be accepted. Submitted designs will be evaluated by a subcommittee of the Inclusion and Diversity Committee and representatives from the college’s Office of Communications and Marketing. Entries will be accepted starting Feb. 21 and the contest will close Apr. 1.
The winning design will be featured on select promotional items and on the Engineer Together website for the year, and will also take home a $100 Amazon gift card sponsored by Southern Company. Second prize will win a $50 Visa gift card sponsored by Brasfield & Gorrie.
“We want to know what Engineer Together means to you, our students, and we’re excited to see your designs,” Fergus said.
