Graduate Program

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers graduate programs that award the Master of Science (MS-thesis option), Master of Civil Engineering (MCE, Non-thesis option) and the doctoral (Ph.D.) degree. At the graduate level, students can specialize in the following areas:

Accelerated Bachelor's/Master's (ABM) Program

The ABM program provides an opportunity for highly motivated undergraduate students to gain a depth of understanding and experience of civil engineering beyond that of typical bachelor's level graduates. There is currently a strong demand in the industry for civil engineers with advanced degrees.

Distance Education (online, off-campus)

The department participates in two different off-campus educational opportunities:

  • Graduate online program -  This is an off-campus for-credit program with coursework offered at your home or office via streaming video, leading to a Master of Civil Engineering (MCE) degree with an emphasis in environmental engineering and structural engineering.
  • Engineering continuing education - These are non-credit professional development courses, conferences, and workshops in both business (management) and engineering. These courses do not count for credit toward a college degree, but they do provide continuing education units.
