The flexural resistance of reinforced concrete bridge beams strengthened with titanium alloy is being experimentally evaluated. The objectives include validation of the AASHTO guidelines for near-surface mounted reinforcement. In addition, provisions are to be developed for the bond stress and the development length required. An extensive experimental program is being performed, which includes full-scale testing in the ASEL high-bay laboratory.
