About Us
The Stormwater Research Facility at Auburn University is a 12-acre outdoor research facility dedicated to conducting full-scale evaluations to improve practices and products used to manage stormwater runoff.
In addition to research, the facility engages in product testing and development, and delivers hands-on training events for professionals in the stormwater industry.
The Stormwater Research Facility was developed in 2009 as part of a collaborative effort between the Highway Research Center at Auburn University and the Alabama Department of Transportation.
OUR MISSION:
Auburn Stormwater advances stormwater management through innovation, technology evaluation, and education that supports real-world, science-based solutions. We lead the development and application of practical approaches that shape the future of stormwater management.
Innovate
Providing a scientific understanding of stormwater management practices used to minimize impacts of construction, urban, and agricultural stormwater runoff.
Evaluate
Independent, third-party, standardized testing of manufactured stormwater practices. Product performance can be compared against standard or conventional practices to determine whether a product provides substantial improvement in managing stormwater.
Educate
Transferring knowledge gained through research to designers, practitioners, regulators, and the public to showcase proper techniques for installing, maintaining, and inspecting stormwater management practices.
