Stormwater Research Facility receives USDA grant to provide training for rural communities

Michael Perez, associate professor in civil and environmental engineering, will collaborate with the Alabama Association of Conservation Districts on a $275K Technical Assistance and Training grant through the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide educational resources and stormwater management workshops for communities in Alabama’s Black Belt.

CEE assistant professor and Stormwater Research Facility part of $1.3M grant to safeguard Gulf Coast ecosystem

Shiqiang Zou, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering (CEE) and Michael Perez, associate professor in CEE, are collaborating with the University of South Alabama on a three-year, $1.3 million project to upgrade geotextiles to filter excessive nutrients from stormwater runoff into the Gulf Coast ecosystem. Auburn University has been awarded $420,000 as part of the grant. Other collaborators include Wake Forest University and Mobile Baykeeper.
