BEST (“Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology”) Robotics, Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer-run national organization whose mission is to inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through participation in a sports-like, science- and engineering-based robotics competition.

BEST Robotics licenses its program to two-year colleges, four-year colleges and universities, and other organizations approved to start “hubs” (licensed host sites).

BEST Robotics is the only national robotics program that charges no fees to schools or students. BEST hubs provide participating schools with all robotics equipment and construction materials at no cost. Any school may participate, regardless of size, type (public, private, or home school), location, or socioeconomic status.

Over 900 schools and 18,000 students participate in the annual program.

The K-12 Outreach offices in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering and College of Sciences and Mathematics jointly sponsor two BEST competitions:

War Eagle BEST – a hub for East Central Alabama and West Central Georgia schools. Started in 2001, War Eagle BEST was the first BEST hub in Alabama and the South. It is now one of 11 hubs across Alabama.

South's BEST – the regional championship for the 65 top-winning teams from hubs in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
