Aaron Langham, senior in electrical engineering, was named the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering’s outstanding student for 2018. His passion for math and science led him to the field of electrical engineering, and he hasn’t looked back.

“I am incredibly privileged to have attended the Alabama School of Math and Science in Mobile for my last three years of high school. There I was exposed to a rigorous mathematical curriculum and courses in mechatronics that drew out my interest in electrical engineering, as well as the German language. Coming into college, I was sure that electrical engineering was the major I wanted, since it combined two of the subjects I found most interesting in high school: calculus and electromagnetics. One of my favorite things about electrical engineering is the sheer scope and multitude of topics, ranging from power systems to radar to computers. I feel immensely satisfied in receiving this award, and to me it represents the sense of personal and educational fulfillment I feel in my final term as an undergraduate student. I have accepted a job in Washington, D.C. with Accenture, and I am excited for my post-undergrad future. Once I have a clearer idea of my research interests, I hope to go to graduate school in Germany.”
