McCrary Institute welcomes Victoria Dillon as deputy director and chief communications officer

The McCrary Institute for Cyber and Critical Infrastructure Security announced that Victoria Dillon, a veteran of the White House, the nation’s cyber defense agency, Capitol Hill and leading technology companies, has been named chief communications officer and deputy director.

As the McCrary Institute’s first chief communications officer, she will lead the communications and media strategy for the institute’s growing media platforms and embolden its reputation as a nationally-recognized cyber-focused policy and research institute.

“I’m thrilled Victoria is joining us as our first chief communications officer,” said Frank Cilluffo, director of the McCrary Institute. “She has tremendous experience at the highest levels of government in cybersecurity and incredible expertise in communications. She understands the issues that matter and has a track record communicating them with clarity and passion that has helped enhance our nation’s security. I have every confidence that she will help take us to the next level.”

“It’s good to be where the great ideas are,” said Dillon. “I couldn’t be more excited to join some of the best minds in national security, cybersecurity, critical infrastructure protection and AI and promote the great work and vital conversations they foster. I’m eager to jump in and help advance when they’re asking the right questions, finding the right solutions and bringing the community together to build the partnerships essential to our nation’s success. The work of McCrary – serving policymakers, informing legislators and protecting the nation – is a mission I’m proud to join.”

Dillon comes to the McCrary Institute after serving in the White House as assistant national cyber director for public affairs in the Office of the National Cyber Director where she helped one of the newest White House offices drive cyber strategy and policy across federal agencies, community partners and the private sector.

She spent two years in the Department of Homeland Security as chief of external affairs at the cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency leading a robust communications team and elevating the new agency’s prominence as the nation’s cyber defense agency.

She brings years of experience in the private sector having worked at Cisco and Amazon Web Services and spent four years working for members of leadership on Capitol Hill, notably for the chairwoman of the powerful House Rules Committee.
