AC-PABE is in partnership with the U.S. pulp and paper industry through the Auburn Pulp and Paper Foundation (APPF) which represents 35 member companies. The APPF advises and assists in recruiting students, placing graduates, designing curricula, performing research, and transferring technology.

The Pulp and Paper Education and Research Alliance (PPERA) is an alliance of universities with programs that are individually distinctive, but are similar in being committed to the advancement of the North American pulp, paper, and allied industries.
Each PPERA university partner has various supportive relationships with industry and government designed to strengthen the contributions of higher education to the pulp, paper, and allied industries. In recognition of these strategic partnerships, the university programs comprising PPERA will work together to develop synergistic programs in education, research, and service, which are mutually beneficial and collectively leverage contributions to the pulp, paper, and allied industries.
Membership in PPERA places no limitations on participating institutions.

The Alliance for Pulp & Paper Technology Innovation (APPTI) is an industry-led consortium that promotes development of advanced manufacturing technologies for the pulp and paper industry, and supports development of platforms to enable new revenue streams from forest-based biomass.
Previously called the Agenda 2020 Technology Alliance, it was formed in 1994 to bring together industry, academia, and several agencies of the Federal government to advance the pulp and paper industry, based on renewable resources, sustainable manufacturing practices, and sound economics.
Renamed APPTI, effective November 6, 2017, they will continue their three-part mission: (1) To identify industry technology needs and R&D priorities. (2) To inform universities and government agencies about industry research needs and opportunities. (3) To promote collaborative R&D programs to seize these opportunities.
