Twenty-two scholars from the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering are ranked among the world’s top two percent of all independently cited researchers, according to a study recently released by Stanford University.

For the annual report, “Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators,” a database of more than 180,000 scholars worldwide, which extends across 176 subdisciplines and the studies of 9 million scholars who managed to publish five scientific articles or more, was examined. The report counted all-time citations of each scholar, excluding self-citations, through September 2021.

Auburn Engineering scholars who placed in the top two percentile of all researchers listed are (in alphabetical order):

“One of the foundations of our rich history as a university is the cutting-edge research conducted here at Auburn,” said Steve Taylor, interim dean of engineering. “These professors, recognized through this study, are playing a major part in changing the world for the better through their research, and it’s an honor to have them recognized nationally and among their peers for their outstanding work.”

Metrics for the study included the number of citations, h-index (productivity and citation impact of publications), co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers through a variety of authorship positions, and a composite indicator.
