Data network performance analysis, queueing systems, admission control, network traffic modeling, network calculus, flow and congestion control, wireless network analysis, and network simulation.

ELEC 8420. Detection And Estimation Theory

Decision theory concepts: Bayesian, maximum likelihood, minimax and Neyman-Pearson approaches to hypothesis testing; Detection of deterministic and random signals in noise; Parameter estimation: Bayesian and maximum likelihood approaches, nonrandom and random parameter estimation; Signal estimation.

ELEC 8560. Adaptive Control

Theory and application of adaptive control systems. Real-time parameter estimation, self-tuning regulators, model-reference adaptive systems, stability, auto-tuning and gain scheduling controllers.

Advanced treatment of selected topics in semiconductor devices.

ELEC 8780. Contemporary Topics in Electronic Circuit Design

Contemporary topics in electronic circuit design such as Delta-Sigma A/D and D/A conversion, switched capacitor circuitry, continuous time and discrete time filter design, communications electronics. May be taken more than once for credit.

Study of a specialized area of electrical and computer engineering not covered by regularly offered courses. Course may be repeated with change in topics. Course may be repeated for a maximum of 9 credit hours.
