  • Molly Hughes has been selected as the Civil and Environmental Engineering Outstanding Faculty and the Fred H. Pumphrey Teaching Award winner. The Spring Student, Faculty, and Alumni Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, April 14, in the Grand Hall of the Brown-Kopel Engineering Student Achievement Center. 
  • Bess Murrah has been selected by CEE faculty as the Civil and Environmental Engineering Outstanding Student. The Spring Student, Faculty, and Alumni Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, April 14, in the Grand Hall of the Brown-Kopel Engineering Student Achievement Center. 
  • Zilan Yang at the graduate level, and Mr. Benjamin Heigl at the undergraduate level received scholarships from the Alabama-Mississippi Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). Both of them are selected based on their academic excellence and a solid dedication to pursuing a career in Water Works Industry. They will attend the awards luncheon during the AL/MS Water Joint Annual Conference in Mobile next month.
  • Engineer Together Day was a great success (March 15). Thanks to all who supported and participated, especially Jeff LaMondia who coordinated CEE program and CEE graduate students Fernando Cordero, CJ Gerber and Corinne Arcenal.
  • Dr. Shiqiang Zou and his research team was selected to lead a 2-year, $1.49 million Dept of Energy project, among which $490K will be awarded to Auburn. This project is led by our lab at Auburn University, with four other collaborators from Rice University, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, Electric Power Research Institute, and The Water Tower in Georgia. The project title is “Development of a Flow-through Intensified Electrodialysis (FIELD) System to Manage Inland Reverse Osmosis Concentrate.”

February 2023

  • Morgan Burk was nominated for Student Civil Engineer of the Year Award, Alabama Section ASCE
  • AU Stormwater Research Facility team participated in the 2023 International Erosion Control Association’s Annual Conference and Expo in Kansas City.  Seven current students and four alumni from the group participated.   All seven students received scholarships to attend the conference.  AU group delivered seven lectern presentations and six poster presentations.
  • The recipients of the 2023 CEE Stone Leadership Award are: Bridges Borden, Morgan Burk, Stanton Freeman and Bess Murrah. The Stone Leadership Award was established by Jeffrey I. and Linda J. Stone for the purpose of promoting the development of the leadership abilities of Auburn’s civil and environmental engineering undergraduates by recognizing those students who have exhibited outstanding leadership and by encouraging students to seek out leadership opportunities beyond the department of civil and environmental engineering.  Stone Leadership Awards are funded by the Stone Fund for Excellence in the Auburn University Foundation for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering within the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering.  We thank Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Stone for their generous support.
