Sushil Adhikari, Ph.D., P.E.

Sushil Adhikari is an Alumni Professor and Director, Center for Bioenergy and Bioproducts at Auburn University. Adhikari earned his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, an M.S. degree from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand in Energy Technology, and a Ph.D. degree from Mississippi State University in Biological Engineering.

Sushil Adhikari’s areas of research include biomass gasification and pyrolysis, biomass treatment for thermochemical processes, and hydrogen production from biological materials. Adhikari’s work has been supported by the National Science Foundation, United States Department of Agriculture, Department of Energy, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Department of Transportation- SunGrant, Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station and others. Adhikari currently serves as an Associate- Editor for the journal Transactions of ASABE and Applied Engineering in Agriculture and has received 2013 New Holland Young Researcher Award from American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE), 2012 AU President's Outstanding Collaborative Units award, 2011 Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station Director’s Researcher Award, 2014, 2013, 2012 and 2011 College of Agriculture Dean’s Grantsmanship Award, and 2010 Distinguished Young Agricultural Engineer Award from Alabama Section of ASABE.

He has published more than 68 peer-reviewed journal articles, and 4 book chapters in the field of bioenergy and biofuels. He is currently supervising the research of six Ph.D. students, 2 Master’s students and 3 undergraduate students.
