Genevieve and Tyler Espy

Why did each of you choose Auburn Engineering?

Tyler: I chose Auburn Engineering for its reputation for being an incredible engineering program with a family atmosphere.

Genevieve: My family had moved from Alabama to Arizona my senior year of high school, so I was in the unique position of having residency in two states. I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to go to Auburn before my residency window closed, and Auburn's reputation in engineering made that choice an easy one.

How did you meet?

Genevieve: We met through Tyler's sister, Ryan. She and I were both ISE majors, and though we met late in school, we were inseparable. We both got to know each other's families well, so Tyler and I were comfortably in the friend zone for a long time. After graduation, he and I started spending time more together, and (with Ryan's blessing, of course) the rest is history.

Where are you now?

Genevieve: We live in Greenville, SC with our 7-month-old son, Jude, and dog, Barrett. I work remotely as a Product Development Engineer in Aerospace and Defense programs for ReLogic Research. Tyler is a patent attorney at Alston & Bird, and his job will be moving us to Atlanta in the spring. I recently joined 100+ Women Strong and am looking forward to getting involved as a student mentor soon.
