One of the keys to enhancing retention of the underrepresented in engineering is an effective recruiting plan. The Center for Inclusive Engineering Excellence is implementing the following strategy:

  • Identifying schools with strong academic programs in mathematics and science.
  • Developing a network of teachers and counselors at targeted middle and high schools.
  • Networking with community colleges that have traditionally provided a pool of students with a high potential for success.
  • Inviting students to signature events including High School STEM Visitation Day and the Engineering Summer Enrichment Program.
