Engineering Analytical Lab
The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering is establishing a shared-use analytical lab to support the research needs of its students, staff, and faculty.
Currently the two following pieces of equipment are in the Engineering Analytical Lab:
- Zeiss EVO-10 Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with an EDS detector
- Quorum Q150R ES Plus Sputter Coater
Steps for Equipment Use:

Complete Training:
- Training is mandatory for all equipment users.
- Click the link below to access the Shared Use Research Lab Website. Use your Auburn University credentials to log in.
- The reservation system is handled via the Makerspace, if you do not already have a Makerspace account, go to Services > Account Application to create one. You’ll need to provide the necessary details, specifically your Auburn ID, your supervisor’s name, and the FOAP. Group accounts can have one admin and multiple users.

Training Process:
- Under the Training tab, select "Zeiss Evo 10 SEM Training."
- Complete the Online Safety Presentation and pass the Safety Quiz.
- Download and fill out the Training Verification Form and email it to the trainer (Dr. Md Fahim Salek, email: mzs0184@auburn.edu) to request in-person training.
- Attend a 2-hour long in-person training covering essential SEM operation and EDS elemental analysis.
- The trainer will sign the form once you demonstrate proficiency.

Request Lab Access:
- Ask your department’s Administrative Assistant to submit a Card Access Request Form to the Dean’s Office for approval.

Reserve Equipment:
- Once training and lab access are approved, you can reserve equipment on the Shared Use Research Lab website under the Reserve tab. You can also directly access the reservation calendar via the provided link.
