regulators
Charge
regulators sit between the solar panel and the batteries
that store the energy collected by the photovoltaic
panels. They regulate the volts and amps flowing from
the solar panel into the battery. These regulators
serve a number of purposes, including: protecting
batteries from overcharge; preventing battery energy
from flowing back to the solar panels when the sun
isn't shining; providing information about the status
of the battery charge and the flow of electricity
from the solar panels. Our house uses five Solar
Boost 3048 charge regulators, with an output
current rating of 24 amps. The 1.1kW units will be
located in the attic.
