DevFest Auburn holding speaker sessions, codelabs Sept. 15

Auburn University will hold its first ever DevFest on Sunday, Sept. 15, in the Shelby Center for Engineering Technology. 

DevFest Auburn is an event hosted by GDG Cloud Auburn, a community-run developer group supported by Google Developers. The event focuses on community building and learning about software technologies through speaker sessions, codelabs and more. DevFest Auburn will feature four tracks on mobile, web, cloud and machine learning technologies with more than 10 sessions. 

DevFest Auburn will feature four women speakers from Auburn University who will conduct codelabs in support of diversity and inclusion efforts for women in tech. 

“This is an exciting event for anyone in our area who is interested in software development and emerging technologies,” said Jay Patel, who is a DevFest Auburn organizer along with Nikolay Sargsyan. “We look forward to engaging the developer community with interactive sessions, codelabs and live demos that stimulate interest and advance the body of knowledge in this area.” 

Speakers include: 

  • Brian Bolton, senior software engineer at Workiva
  • Victor Trac, founder and president of
  • Riya Dashoriya, software engineer at Quizlet
  • Seth Hogan, senior software engineer at TSYS
  • Mike Jolley, chief software architect at Advanced Systems Unlimited
  • Ijeoma Ezeonyebuchi, quality assurance engineer at NPR
  • Sai Haridass, lead Java developer at Ford Motor Co.
  • Jeriel Ng, mobile developer at NCR Corp.
  • Jay Patel, doctoral student at Auburn University
  • Nikolay Sargsyan, doctoral student at Auburn University 

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the kickoff happening at 9:45 a.m. The sessions end at 5 p.m. with an after-party and networking event immediately following the final sessions. All sessions will be held in 1120 or 1121 Shelby Center. Attendees will receive free food and giveaways.
