"I chose civil engineering because of the many broad applications that I would have the opportunity to work. Civil engineering also allows my work to have a meaningful impact on the general public, whether I choose to work designing bridges, building roads, or managing construction projects. Being selected as the civil engineering Outstanding Student is a tremendous honor and I am very thankful to the faculty for nominating me. To be recognized with some of the best and brightest students Auburn has to offer is a very humbling experience and it is something that I will carry with me as I begin my career in the next year. My current plan is to work as a structural engineering intern in Charlotte, North Carolina this summer before graduating and entering the workforce in December. After graduation, I plan to either work as a structural design engineer or for a general contractor. Once again, thank you to the civil engineering faculty for selecting me for this award, and War Eagle."
