NCAT Announces Three Open Positions

NCAT seeks interested and qualified candidates for the following open positions:

Assistant Director
The Assistant Director will be primarily responsible for leading research and outreach programs funded by external sources such as the National Asphalt Pavement Association, state departments of transportation, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and business enterprises. The position entails fostering client relationships, developing proposals, and managing research and/or outreach programs, including preparing and managing budgets, experimental plans, technical reports, proposed specifications and methods, and materials for educating and training industry personnel. This individual will develop and deliver presentations, workshops, webinars, videos and other forms of media to share research findings to sponsors, interested groups, and stakeholders as needed to facilitate technology transfer.

Assistant Research Professor
Appointment, review, and promotion in the research title series requires demonstrated abilities to initiate and maintain a program of research or outreach supported by contracts, grants, or other designated funds. Appointees in the research title series are eligible for all the benefits of tenure track faculty except tenure and professional improvement leave. All research title series positions are one-year contracts that may be renewed annually or, if for a lesser period of time, the period of funding from the contract, grant, generated funds, or other designated funds. Renewal is contingent upon performance and available funding. Externally funded programs for this position are to be in the area of asphalt pavements. Candidates must be able to demonstrate substantial work in two or more of the following areas: pavement preservation, pavement performance evaluation, pavement management, asphalt materials testing and characterization, use of recycled materials in asphalt pavement, quality assurance programs for asphalt pavement production and construction, mechanistic modeling of flexible pavements, tire-pavement interaction, and air and water quality issues related to asphalt pavements. Applicants should have an earned Doctorate in Civil Engineering or other related field and must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

Engineer
The National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama is seeking candidates for the position of NCAT Engineer III/IV/V/VI. NCAT looks to add to its team of exceptional pavement engineers with this engineering position that will be responsible for establishing and maintaining self-supported external funding related to asphalt pavement design, construction, maintenance, and management. The individual in this position will work with existing and prospective clients to identify research and training needs, conduct literature reviews, develop and manage research projects, prepare technical reports, and develop and deliver information to facilitate technology deployment.
