9:00 AM – 12:00 PM CST

This course focuses on the importance of ethics in State and Local government. Course content includes
legal requirements and restrictions under Alabama state law that apply to public officials and
employees – conflicts of interest in public contracting, prohibition on accepting gifts and favors from
vendors and contractors, misuse of confidential information, and misuse of public resources (otherwise
known as embezzlement). You will walk-through real-life examples to help bring to life the practical
application of ethical decisions. From lifelong public servants to unexpected political movements, learn
about various state requirements that are layered on top of professional codes. When you complete
this webinar, you will know where to find relevant references to ensure that you are informed. You will
also be able to determine the rules that apply to your work and have experience examining the
application of the rules.

This course is applicable to local agency employees and others who are responsible for managing and
maintaining roadway systems.
