Auburn Engineering’s Masoud Mahjouri-Samani was recently appointed as senior editor of the Journal of Laser Applications (JLA) and associate editor of the International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing (IJEM).

The JLA is the scientific platform of the Laser Institute of America (LIA) and is published in cooperation with AIP publishing. The JLA articles cover topics ranging from fundamental to applied research and development to industrial applications. The journal appoints international and well-known first-class scientists to serve as allocated editors in various categories.

IJEM is a new multidisciplinary journal uniquely covering the areas related to extreme manufacturing. The journal is dedicated to publishing original research of the highest quality and impact in areas such as fundamentals to process, metrology, conditions, environments and system integration.

Mahjouri-Samani is an assistant professor in the electrical and computer engineering department at Auburn and leads the Laser Assisted Science and Engineering (LASE) group. He received his undergraduate and doctorate degrees in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He then spent four years as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences (CNMS) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

Currently, Mahjouri-Samani is focused on researching the laser-based synthesis, processing and in-situ diagnostics of emerging quantum materials and devices as well as additive nanomanufacturing of multifunctional hybrid materials and structures.
