The
Auburn University Solar Decathlon house features
energy efficient Pella windows and doors. The windows
and doors on the South elevation are dual glazed
with clear glass to allow the maximum benefit of
desired solar gain during the winter months when
the sun sits low in the sky.
The
other elevations feature windows and doors that
have a triple glass system including double Low-E
coating with Argon gas that provides exceptional
performance throughout all seasons of heating and
cooling.
The
beautiful wood material and interior provide a significant
thermal break, while the pre-finished aluminum clad
exterior insures a low maintenance exterior. Every
operable casement window has been factory tested
for air infiltration, and has met Pella's high standards
of performance. Pella casements are six times tighter
that the industry's highest residential standard
for air infiltration. The operable windows feature
an integrated crankwith a fold away handle and a
patented unison lock system that secures both the
upper and lower locks with a single easy-to-reach
handle.
