How do I apply?

Graduate Admissions Deadlines

Auburn University, the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering admit graduate students year-round for Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.

Although applications are reviewed year-round, applicants are strongly advised to adhere to the following timelines to assure timely processing.

  • July 1 - for the following fall semester
  • November 1 - for the following spring semester
  • April 1 - for the following summer semester

Later submissions will be reviewed, but the department cannot guarantee all paperwork will be processed in a timely manner for arrival and semester start.


Required Documents

Documents required by the department (Auburn Graduate School Application System):

  • Resume
  • Statement of Purpose (one page single-spaced)
  • Three letters of recommendation directly from the references

Documents required by the Graduate School:

  • Official transcripts for all colleges that you previously attended

The GRE is recommended but not required. 

Eligible Applicants

All applicants must have earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related area and must have completed such formal training as to warrant advanced study in the major and minor fields. Person holding college degrees in fields other than civil engineering will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
