The Auburn University Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering has welcomed Maddie Hart as its new student services coordinator.
Hart earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Auburn University in 2024 and a Master of Business Administration in 2025. While completing her graduate degree, she served as a graduate teaching assistant in the Harbert College of Business, where she instructed more than 230 freshman students and shared essential skills for academic and professional success.
In addition to teaching, Hart provided individualized career coaching, working one-on-one with students on career exploration, internship and job searches and resume development. During her time in the Harbert College of Business’ Office of Professional and Career Development, she coached more than 150 students.
Hart said her experience working closely with students has shaped her approach to advising and support.
“My favorite part was having one-on-one coaching appointments,” she said. “Every student was different. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all plan. I like to learn where students are and help them maximize their strengths.”
That experience, she said, has prepared her well for her new role in industrial and systems engineering, where she will advise undergraduate industrial and systems engineering students as well as students in the Business-Engineering-Technology minor.
“It has prepared me as I walk into this role, because I can utilize the career mindset and tailor it to their curriculum,” Hart said. “I’m also passionate about getting students involved outside of the classroom and helping them maximize their student experience on campus.”
Hart said she was also drawn to the department’s culture after meeting faculty and staff.
“It felt comfortable,” she said. “I knew there was room for growth, and that was exciting for me.”
As student services coordinator, Hart plans to focus on relationship-building, student well-being and engagement.
“I think it’s important to build relationships with students and offer constant support, while also prioritizing their well-being,” she said. “I see my role evolving as I learn more. I’m interested in growing our department-hosted events and increasing student engagement, and I’m looking forward to helping students have the best college experience possible.”
