For mechanical engineering student Tyler Wilks, Auburn isn’t just a college — it’s a lifelong connection. What began with game days and “War Eagle” chants has grown into hands-on experience, professional growth and a community that feels like home.
Why Auburn
“I’ve been a lifelong Auburn fan — I grew up watching Auburn athletics, visiting campus and attending games. I love the campus, the people and the unique atmosphere. It’s truly special, you can go anywhere in the world and hear ‘War Eagle’ if you are wearing an Auburn shirt.”
Mechanical Engineering
“I’ve always been drawn to math and science, so engineering seemed like a natural fit. I’m interested in many different areas — cars, nuclear, energy and more — so I thought mechanical engineering would allow me to explore various fields.”
Internship
“I interned at Honda as an assembly engineer at a powersports plant, working on strengthening the efficiency of the assembly lines. This experience showed me how the skills I’ve developed through classes at Auburn can be applied directly to real-world situations. Auburn taught me technical skills and instilled a strong work ethic to succeed. I wouldn’t have been as prepared for my internship without the foundations I’ve gained at Auburn.”
Brown-Kopel
“The community I’ve found since working in the Brown-Kopel Center is unmatched. I know I will always have support from the Career Development and Corporate Relations office, Cupola Engineering Ambassadors or a fellow student. It’s been amazing to witness the strong community built around Auburn, especially within Auburn Engineering.”
