From late-night study sessions in the Brown-Kopel Center to leading international student organizations, Sathvik Prahadeeswaran has built more than a résumé at Auburn — he’s built a community. The junior computer science and software engineering major from Hoover, Alabama, credits the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering with giving him more opportunities than he ever imagined, from hands-on internships to friends who feel like family.
Why Auburn?
“When applying to schools, it was between Auburn, Georgia Tech and UT Austin. I only applied to three or four schools. I wanted to branch out from home, and a lot of my friends already went to Auburn, so that made my decision easier. Coming here, I’ve gained a lot more than I thought I could. The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering has already given me so much.”
Why engineering?
“I was a late bloomer in high school, so I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Having spent four years in the business academy, I thought I would pursue a business career. However, CSSE was suggested to me, and it’s been an enjoyable experience. Although I’ve learned it’s hard work. I’ve spent many hours in the Brown-Koper center with colleagues studying from open to close. That’s been a big perk to Auburn. People don’t study alone here, and it’s been gratifying to know that other people are working on the same things, and we all want each other to succeed. That’s really the Auburn family.”
Extracurriculars
“I’m part of ACM (Auburn Association for Computing Machinery), the International Student Organization and the ISA (Indian Student Association). Auburn does a good job of making students of every background feel welcome with different student organizations.”
Future plans
“I had an internship at Regions bank, working on the treasury management team. My next internship will be for Honeywell on the site reliability engineering team.”
