Eliana Floyd knows what it means to live life in the fast lane. The sophomore in mechanical engineering is leading Auburn’s Greenpower USA and Formula SAE teams to victory.
Why Auburn
“I grew up an Auburn fan, but applied to several schools during application season. I had made my decision about Auburn, but after visiting for E-Day 2024, I knew engineering was the perfect fit for me. The engineering programs are unmatched, and I could immediately see myself immersed in the classes and opportunities here. The Makerspace and labs offer hands-on experience — exactly what I was looking for.”
Motorsports Engineering
“I got involved through the Intro to Motorsports Engineering class. It has shaped my Auburn experience. Greenpower USA gave me the chance to dive straight into motorsports. Seeing the chassis for the first time sparked my passion for the engineering behind racecars.”
Racing in Talladega
“The chance to race in Talladega was a dream come true, and winning was beyond any of my expectations. I spent countless hours in the Makerspace with the team to build a race-winning car, and the victory is a testament to all our hard work. My love for motorsports has only grown, and I’m continuing my passion through War Eagle Motorsports, where we compete for Formula SAE.”
Future Plans
“My experience with Greenpower USA led me to a goal of becoming a race engineer after graduation. The whole experience is a culmination of watching racing with my dad as a kid, and the opportunities Auburn gave me through building and engineering race cars.”
