Carolina Triboni is paving her own way. From Brazil to Auburn, the structural engineering graduate student is excelling in and out of the classroom.

Why Auburn

“I didn’t tour Auburn, but it just felt right. My friends toured the campus, and the way they spoke about the campus and community made it feel like home. It was a hard decision because my parents were in Pittsburgh and I would be far away from them, but the Auburn family made it feel like home away from home.”

Why Civil and Environmental Engineering

“My mom is an architect, which initially drew me to construction. However, my dad, a mechanical engineer, encouraged me to explore engineering because of my passion for math and science. Since then, I haven’t looked back. Civil and environmental engineering gave me the perfect mix of my mom’s architecture influence and my dad’s engineering influence.”

Undergraduate research

“I was fortunate enough to do two years of research in water resources, during which I contributed to a published paper on stormwater. I found that I grew in my technical, interpersonal and time management skills, something I’m so grateful for. These opportunities are what make Auburn stand out to me and are something that solidified my decision.”

Extracurriculars

“I first got involved with Chi Epsilon, where I was selected as treasurer and later had the chance to be president. I was also involved in the American Concrete Institute and was a Cupola ambassador. I wouldn’t change anything about my extracurricular experiences — I feel incredibly grateful for being trusted with leadership positions and to grow personally through these organizations.”
