Auburn University’s Samuel Ginn College of Engineering continues to be recognized as a leader in higher education, ranking among the nation’s top public institutions in U.S. News and World Report’s 2025 Best Graduate Schools.
U.S. News and World Report, which ranks graduate programs nationally each spring, designated Auburn Engineering No. 33 among public institutions when its annual list was released Tuesday, April 8.
“Being consistently acknowledged by our peers in academia highlights the exceptional graduate engineering experience we provide at Auburn University,” said Maria Auad, associate dean for graduate studies and faculty development. “We dedicate substantial resources and effort into recruiting distinguished faculty, supporting state-of-the-art research facilities and offering new, experiential learning opportunities.”
U.S. News and World Report ranks colleges based on peer assessment, recruiter assessment, faculty resources, doctoral degrees awarded, student-faculty ratios, research expenditures, acceptance rates and mean GRE quantitative scores.
Auburn Engineering’s graduate programs were ranked No. 6 overall in the Southeastern Conference and, once again, No. 1 in the state.
Several Auburn Engineering specialty fields of study also ranked among the nation’s best public programs. Biological/agricultural engineering (biosystems engineering) ranked No. 14, industrial and systems engineering at No. 22, aerospace engineering at No. 23, chemical engineering at No. 30, civil and environmental engineering at No. 34, electrical and computer engineering at No. 38, computer science and software engineering at No. 41, mechanical engineering at No. 41 and materials engineering at No. 55.
Auburn Engineering is no stranger to high marks from U.S. News and World Report. The college’s undergraduate program ranked No. 30 among public institutions in the fall, while online graduate programs were ranked No. 20 among all institutions in February.
“Our consistent high ranking reflects the dedication of our faculty and everyone involved with graduate programs at the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering as we continue to prioritize producing job-ready candidates and pioneering research,” said Mario Eden, dean of engineering. “Students at Auburn benefit from hands-on experiences both inside and outside the classroom, supported by expert faculty and exceptional student support programs. Our alumni have long recognized this, and we are grateful that our engineering peers do as well.”
