There are many paths a student can take to become an Auburn engineer. At Transfer-mation Day on Friday. Feb. 2, the Engineering Office of Recruitment, K-12 Outreach and Scholarship offered potential transfer students a glimpse into life on the Plains through a panel discussion with current transfer students, a presentation of transfer student resources and opportunities, and a tour of the engineering campus.

“This year’s Transfer-mation Day was a huge success! This was one of the largest transfer events we’ve hosted. The day really paints a picture of all of the resources and opportunities available to transfer students here in Auburn Engineering,” said Andrew McGill, recruitment administrator.

“I think the most impactful part of the day is the student panel. Our panel was made up entirely of current Auburn Engineering students who were transfer students themselves. Hearing from someone that just went through the entire transfer process provided some profound insights for our guests. At the end of the day, we hope that some of our attendees will be up on the stage next year speaking to a new crop of recruits!”

Attendees representing community colleges such as Southern Union State, Central Alabama, Jefferson State and Lurleen B. Wallace were in attendance to hear transfer students James Tauer, senior in mechanical engineering, Austyn Murphy, senior in aerospace engineering and Rasul Lee, senior in electrical engineering, discuss their respective paths. Speakers from the Office of Admissions, Engineering Support Services and the Center for Inclusive Engineering Excellence offered additional insight to the admissions process and painted a picture of the various support services in place to ensure student success.

“These students have different questions and needs from an incoming freshman student,” said Brooke Chandler, academic programs administrator. “They need to know how to navigate from a different perspective. I hope these students realized there was a place for them in the College of Engineering and they are a valued member of our Auburn Engineering community.”
