Polish off your résumé - the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering is hosting the annual Engineering Career Fair on Sept. 15 and 23.
This is the first time that the college will host both an in-person and virtual career fair. The in-person fair will take place in the Brown-Kopel Center on Wednesday, Sept. 15, and the virtual fair will be hosted on Thursday, Sept. 23.
The combined career fairs will feature more than 150 companies, with 82 in attendance at the in-person fair and 75 in attendance at the virtual fair, according to Apryl Mullins, assistant director of corporate relations in the Office of Career Development and Corporate Relations. This is a 25% increase from the 2020 all-virtual career fair, she said.
“It’s always a pleasure to recruit at Auburn due to the talent of Auburn engineers that enter the workforce ready to contribute immediately,” said Cindy Bliss, southeast sales manager for ExxonMobil Fuels and Lubricants. “We enjoy the career fair experience, as we are able to meet with many students and learn about their experience and career goals. The students are well prepared, and the staff and support team go above and beyond to help us have a successful recruiting season.”
The college of engineering is also hosting the Civil + Environmental and Biosystems Career Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 28. So far, 45 companies plan to attend, which ties the corporate attendance record.
“I am very excited about the upcoming career fair. Since it will be my first time attending, it will be my first opportunity to actually meet employers, as well as to get a feel for the different industries out there,” said David Petrey, junior in industrial and systems engineering. “My ultimate goal is to land a co-op position in the defense or manufacturing industries for the upcoming spring semester to begin my career in industrial engineering.”
