The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering’s Office of Communications and Marketing was recently awarded five public relations awards from two prominent industry organizations in the communications and marketing field: The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III and the Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA).
CASE District III is a professional association dedicated to educational advancement, including efforts in the communications and marketing realm, in the southeastern United States. PRCA is a statewide organization committed to promoting the professional and ethical practice of public relations in Alabama.
“Our team works extremely hard to tell the unique stories of the faculty, staff, students and alumni making a difference in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering,” said Austin Phillips, director of engineering communications and marketing. “In a year as challenging as this past one, it is especially meaningful to have our team’s work highlighting how Auburn Engineers contributed to coronavirus relief efforts recognized amongst peer institutions and others in the broader public relations and marketing fields.”
Auburn Engineering won a CASE Circle of Excellence silver award in the Feature Writing category for “Rapid Response.” The story follows assistant professor Michael Zabala and senior lecturer Thomas Burch, both from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, as they plan, develop and test an emergency ventilator dubbed the RE-InVENT in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.
Additionally, the communications and marketing team took home four awards from PRCA – two medallion awards, an award of excellence and a certificate of merit:
- Medallion Award: Auburn Engineering Online News Center
- Medallion Award: Auburn Engineering Website
- Award of Excellence: #GINNing Podcast
- Certificate of Merit: Auburn Engineering Dean’s Report
