Laura Olds, student advisor in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering’s Office of Student Services, is one of Auburn University's newest Employees of the Year.

Employee of the Year honorees were chosen out of 40 Spirit of Excellence winners recognized by Auburn University’s Office of Human Resources during last month’s Employee Recognition Program.

Olds graduated from Auburn in 2006 with a degree in German and literature. Ten years later, she returned to Auburn for a second bachelor's degree in international trade with a minor in business. She has been on staff at Auburn since 2013.

According to Janet Moore, assistant dean for engineering student services, Olds has worked “countless hours” to benefit her students.

“[Olds] has created several procedures and processes that have significantly improved the administration of advising services,” Moore said. "This service is well beyond normal expectations and has garnered the respect of advisors both within Engineering Student Services and within the departments."
