Fan Yin has been promoted to Assistant Director for the National Center for Asphalt Technology. In this role, he will be responsible for leading research programs and fostering client relationships while also continuing to lead NCAT’s research efforts in balanced mix design and use of recycled plastics in asphalt as well as NCAT’s testing service for the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program’s warm mix asphalt evaluation.

“I am thrilled and excited about this great opportunity.” Yin said. “I am grateful for the trust of the NCAT leadership team and the support by the NCAT family. I look forward to the challenges and opportunities with this new role and continuing to grow with NCAT to maintain our prominence as a world leader in asphalt pavement technology.”

Yin received his master’s degree and doctorate at Texas A&M University and worked as a graduate research assistant and postdoctoral researcher at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute before joining NCAT as a postdoctoral researcher in 2016.

“We have a great team at NCAT, rich with talent and working hard to fulfil our mission,” said NCAT Director Randy West. “With a number of opportunities ahead, now is the time to grow our technical and management leadership to guide the center in meeting these new opportunities and to explore additional strategic programs. Fan has demonstrated that kind of leadership and we are excited to give him an expanded role to serve the needs of the asphalt pavement community.”

NCAT was established in 1986 as a partnership between Auburn University and the National Asphalt Pavement Association’s Research and Education Foundation to provide practical research and development to meet the needs of maintaining America's highway infrastructure. The center’s mission is to provide innovative, relevant and implementable research, technology development and education that advances safe, durable and sustainable asphalt pavements.
