The Auburn University Career Center and the Office of Career Development and Corporate Relations in the College of Engineering will host a virtual Engineering and Technology Career Fair Feb. 10-11. Companies such as United Launch Alliance and C Spire will be available throughout the fair to talk with students one-on-one or in group sessions.
This will be the second Engineering and Technology Career Fair to be held during the 2020-21 academic school year. During the fall 2020 fair, 125 companies were in attendance and almost 3,000 appointments were held. This semester, there will be 99 companies in attendance.
“There are so many opportunities for students in the College of Engineering to either gain experience through an internship or a co-op position, or to initiate their full-time job search,” said Apryl Mullins, assistant director of corporate relations for the Office of Career Development and Corporate Relations. “The Engineering and Technology Career Fair provides a common place and time for connection with companies and students. We encourage students to learn about the breadth of opportunities available to them by attending the fair.”
Students can sign up for 10-minute meetings with companies including Dynetics, PCA, Neptune Technology, Technology Services Corporation and Trane from now until the end of the fair through the Career Fair Plus platform, which is available on the app or website, www.careerfairplus.com.
Many companies this spring are offering a group meeting option in addition to the one-on-one meetings, which will provide students with a more informal environment to learn about the company. Students can find these meetings under “View Meetings” when reviewing employer schedules.
United Launch Alliance is one of the companies that will be available to students by one-on-one appointments during the fair. ULA is an American spacecraft launch service provider that launches rocket vehicles that are capable of orbit around Earth and other bodies of the solar system.
“ULA is the nation’s most experienced space launch company,” said Lonnie Sue Sutton, ULA talent management specialist. “It’s a team effort to deliver the nation’s most critical missions to orbit, and Auburn’s virtual career fair allows ULA to connect with students who have a passion for space and support our mission to save lives, explore the universe and connect the world.”
Representatives from C Spire are excited to attend their third Auburn career fair and meet more Auburn Engineering students.
“This will be our third year attending the Auburn Career Fair and we keep coming back because these students prove to be some of the sharpest in the Southeast,” said Cole Cochran, talent acquisition manager and technical recruiter at C Spire. “I’m excited about using Career Fair Plus this spring. There was a bit of a learning curve in the fall, but after almost a year of getting really good at virtual conversations, I know these Auburn career fairs are going to be great.”
