Samantha Cerio, a recent aerospace engineering graduate and former member of the Auburn gymnastics team, has earned Scholastic All-America Honors for the 2018-2019 school year, the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association announced Monday.
The WCGA Scholastic All-America Honors team recognizes student-athletes who maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher for the academic year.
Cerio’s athletic career at Auburn began in 2016, when she was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. During her time at the university, Cerio was a four-time honoree of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, a two-time All-SEC performer and the 2019 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was also involved with Auburn’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, or SAAC, for three years. As the SAAC president in 2018, Cerio aimed to foster a healthy and positive student-athlete image at Auburn University.
Upon graduation this spring, Cerio accepted a position with Boeing as a structural design analysis engineer. Boeing is the world’s largest aerospace company and America’s biggest manufacturing exporter.
Before Cerio graduated, she sat down with the #GINNing podcast team. Listen to her interview below.
