David Timm, the Brasfield & Gorrie Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, has been awarded the Chi Epsilon National Civil Engineering Honor Society’s 2019 James M. Robbins Excellence in Teaching Award.
There have been eight recipients of the James M. Robbins Excellence in Teaching Award, and Timm is one of four Auburn University Civil Engineering faculty members to receive it since 2014. Former students Cassidy Crossland, ’18, and Mike Vrtis, doctorate in ’17, nominated Timm.
“I was truly honored to be nominated by our students and thrilled to have been selected by Chi Epsilon for this award,” Timm said. “I’m fortunate to work with fantastic students and colleagues that strive every day for excellence in a department and college that actively supports and values excellence in teaching.”
Timm’s research interests include asphalt pavements, full-scale pavement testing, pavement structural modeling and pavement design and analysis.
“This great award accurately reflects David’s outstanding dedication to civil engineering instruction at the undergraduate and graduate level,” said Andrzej Nowak, department chair of civil engineering. “We are honored to add David to the list of those in our department who have been commended by Chi Epsilon for their continued record of excellence in the classroom."
