SDPS members attain the rank of fellow by making significant engineering achievements in design and process improvement. Selections are made by a vote of the SDPS board of directors.

Marghitu was one of only two members elevated to fellow this year and also gave a keynote address at the conference.

“Attaining the rank of fellow in a professional organization is a wonderful honor for a faculty member,” said N. Hari Narayanan, chair of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering. “We are proud of Daniela’s accomplishments and look forward to her continued scholarly contributions.”

Marghitu joined the Auburn Engineering faculty in 1996. She is the author or co-author of seven information technology textbooks and more than 80 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers. She has also presented her research at numerous national and international conferences. Marghitu’s projects include Computer Science for All, Mentoring Alabama Girls in Computing and Computer Science for All Romanians, which are supported by organizations such as the National Science Foundation and the National Center for Women in Technology.
