Andrew Forbes chosen as Outstanding Materials Engineering Student
Andrew Forbes |
Andrew Forbes, senior in materials engineering, has been selected as the 2017 outstanding student for the materials engineering program. He has found Auburn Engineering’s student-centered, hands-on learning environment to be the perfect place to grow as an engineer.
“I decided to major in materials engineering because I was interested in understanding the fundamental science behind materials and material processing. As a hands-on learner, I was attracted to the curriculum because of its unique labs as well as its small student to professor ratio. I am honored to be the recipient of the Materials Engineering Outstanding Student Award. It is rewarding to be recognized for the hard work that I have put in over the past four years. I have been beyond blessed by God and my family, who have inspired me toward excellence. While I have not solidified my exact plans for the future, I hope to pursue a career in a technical operations’ position in an outdoor-based company. I have always been passionate about the outdoors and helping others experience it. This summer I will participate in the China Summer Study Program with the College of Engineering. Our team will be visiting plants and research facilities, and in December, I will be getting married! I am thankful for Auburn University and the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering for this award as well as equipping me to reach my full potential.”
And if you haven’t seen the video of Forbes proposing to his girlfriend with a baby goat, it’s worth watching.
