Auburn Hackathon allows programmers to showcase abilities

More than 75 Auburn University students will put their computer programming skills to the test at the 2017 Auburn Hackathon Feb. 3-5. 

Sponsored by Equifax, the competition challenges students to work in teams of two to four people to develop solutions to real-world programming problems. The top teams will receive prizes, including drones and Amazon Echoes, and the opportunity to interview for jobs and internships at Equifax.

“The Equifax Auburn Hackathon is an exciting event that helps students build experience and showcase their work,” said Emily Traylor, automation engineering team lead at Equifax. “Equifax is honored to sponsor this competition and promote the technology community within Auburn, and we look forward to seeing the wonderful work that Auburn students do this weekend.”

The competition will commence with a kickoff event Friday and programming work Saturday. Judging and awards will take place Sunday.

Equifax, one of the major credit data processors in the U.S., opened a new technology center in Auburn in 2015. The center has more than 30 team members and will be expanding this year.
