Mississippi State professor holding seminar on pedestrian traffic simulations

John M. Usher, professor of industrial and systems engineering and department head at Mississippi State University, will hold a seminar at Auburn University from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in 3210 Shelby Center. His talk is free and open to the public.

Usher’s seminar will highlight the use of the Intermodal Simulator for the Analysis of Pedestrian Traffic and how the simulation has been applied to other scenarios involving pedestrians.

Usher also serves as director of the National Center for Intermodal Transportation for Economic Competitiveness at Mississippi State. Before his academic career, he worked with Texas Instruments in process development for the manufacture of multi-layer printed circuit boards. His research interests include systems simulation, modeling and analysis, with applications in both manufacturing and transportation.

Usher holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Florida, master’s degrees in chemical engineering and industrial engineering and a doctorate in engineering sciences from Louisiana State University.
