Tim Cook ’82 named Nike’s lead independent director

Apple CEO Tim Cook, ’82 industrial engineering, has been appointed the lead independent director of Nike’s board of directors, effective June 30. Cook’s appointment is part of a shakeup that sees Mark Parker, Nike president and CEO, become chairman of the board and Nike co-founder Phil Knight retire and become chairman emeritus.

Cook has served on the Nike board since 2005, chairs its compensation committee and serves on the nominating and corporate governance committee.
