Collaborative Research Award
The Collaborative Research Award recognizes outstanding faculty leadership in fostering successful, interdisciplinary research projects that involve faculty from multiple engineering departments or units at Auburn University. This award highlights the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration and the impact of joint efforts in advancing engineering research. One award may be given annually with a $1,000 stipend.
Eligibility
- Open to full-time tenure and non-tenure track faculty members from any department or unit within the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering (SGCOE).
- Nominated faculty member(s) must be the primary investigator(s) of a funded project that is active at the time of nomination. The project must actively involve at least two faculty from engineering departments or units.
- Nominated faculty must demonstrate excellence in fostering teamwork, driving research innovation, and creating impactful collaborations.
- Previous recipients of this award are not eligible.
Criteria
Nominations can be self-nominations. The nomination package is limited to five pages (12-point font and 1-inch margins), including a two-page letter summarizing the faculty member’s leadership and the success of the collaborative research project, and three pages of any other supporting information, all submitted as a single PDF document. Criteria for evaluation will include:
- Leadership in Collaborative Research Projects: Demonstrated leadership in guiding and managing interdisciplinary research projects that involve multiple faculty members from engineering departments or units.
- Impact of Collaborative Research: Evidence of the impact and outcomes of the collaborative research, including publications, innovations, patents, and other results stemming from the project.
- Cross-Unit Collaboration in Engineering: Successful coordination and communication among faculty from different engineering departments or units, fostering a collaborative research environment within the college.
- Recognition and Awards: Any recognition or awards received for the collaborative project, as well as participation in relevant professional societies and committees.
