NSF Proposal Preparation & Templates
Senior or Key Personnel Documents
Individuals designated as senior/key personnel must use SciENcv to prepare and submit their biographical sketches and current and pending (other) support forms. Proposers are responsible for saving, certifying, and submitting the completed documents via Research.gov or Grants.gov. Full requirements are outlined in the PAPPG II D.2.(h).
Data Management Plans
NSF proposals must include a two-page Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMP) outlining how the project will manage, disseminate, and share research data in accordance with NSF policy (see PAPPG II D.2.(ii) for guidance). Additional DMP resources are available on AU Libraries' Research Data Services page and quick guide.
Intellectual Merit & Broader Impacts
All NSF proposals are evaluated through a merit review process based on two criteria: (1) Intellectual Merit—which should describe the potential of the proposed activity to advance knowledge—and (2) Broader Impacts—which should clearly state how your research benefits and contributes to societal outcomes.
NSF Templates
The following templates provide a starting point for preparing key NSF proposal documents. Each template reflects current NSF requirements and can be adapted to align with your specific project scope and goals.
Boilerplate Language
Listed below are standard boilerplate descriptions representing the college's core facilities.
