Why Auburn Engineering?

Jenna - I chose Auburn Engineering for graduate school because when I came down for a visit, I absolutely fell in love with everything about the campus. I loved the atmosphere, the aerospace department, and all the opportunities available!

Brett - I grew up as an Auburn fan and fell in love with the university through attending games on campus. I knew I wanted to pursue a degree in engineering, so it was an easy decision to choose Auburn!

How did you meet? If you met on campus, could you tell us your Auburn story?

We met through the Engineers Without Borders - Auburn University Student Chapter. We were both selected for the Rwanda travel team for both the January implantation trip and August assessment trip, both in 2017. Africa will always hold a special place in our hearts. It's where we became friends on the first Rwanda trip, officially became a couple on the second Rwanda trip, and it's also where Brett proposed in July 2018 in the middle of the Sahara Desert in Morocco! We are so thankful for the opportunities we got to experience together through EWB, and it has been so sweet to share our passion for serving others through the use of our engineering skills. As a married couple, we hope to continue carrying out that passion through various service projects/opportunities!

Where are you now? Tell us about your engineering journey after graduation!

We are currently living in Huntsville, AL. Jenna is working as an Aerospace Systems Engineer in the National Security sector at The MITRE Corporation, and Brett is working as a Software Engineer at Torch Technologies. We are so incredibly thankful for these jobs, especially as our first jobs post-graduate school! Outside of work, we enjoy running, playing pickleball, and working on all of the fun renovations on our first home. We also stay involved with Engineers Without Borders by serving as the Alabama State Representatives for the Southeast Region.

Brett received a B.S. in civil engineering in 2018 and his M.S. in civil engineering in 2020. I finished my M.S. in aerospace engineering in 2016 and my PhD in aerospace engineering in 2020.
